During and after Essence’s leukemia treatment, her body went through tremendous changes. Her skin changed with it.
Stretch marks became one of the most visible reminders of what her body had endured. Like many young women, Essence wanted them gone. As her mother, I wanted to help her feel comfortable in her skin again. What we both eventually learned was that this was not going to be about an overnight transformation. It was going to take patience.
My Everything Cream became part of the simple routine Essence returned to every day. She used it consistently to keep her skin moisturized, soft, and comfortable while giving her body something equally important: time.
The photographs below were taken nearly two years apart. They were not staged for Sheair Butters, and when they were taken, we had no idea they would one day become part of our company’s story. They were simply photographs documenting Essence’s skin at two very different points in her life.
Before & After

Looking at these photographs today, what stands out to me is not perfection.
Essence still has natural skin texture. She still has stretch marks. But over time, we watched their appearance change significantly as consistent moisturizing became part of the way she cared for her skin.
And somewhere along the way, our understanding of skin care changed too.
We stopped looking at her skin as something that needed to be made flawless. After everything her body had carried her through, it deserved patience, nourishment, and consistent care.
That experience became part of the philosophy behind Sheair Butters.
We did not create My Everything Cream because we believed every mark, line, or imperfection needed to disappear. We created it because Essence needed uncomplicated skin care she could use consistently when very little about what she was experiencing felt simple.
Years later, that philosophy remains at the heart of what we make.
Patience. Consistency. Care.
Sometimes the most meaningful changes happen quietly, over time.
These photographs document Essence’s personal experience. Individual experiences and results will vary.
