Living with Eczema

Living with eczema has been one of the more challenging long-term effects of my leukemia treatment. After months of chemotherapy and radiation, my skin became extremely sensitive, prone to irritation, and difficult to manage on a daily basis.

At different points, doctors prescribed topical treatments to help calm flare-ups, but long-term use was not always an option for me. Over time, I began paying closer attention to how my skin responded to simple routines and consistent moisture, especially during periods when my skin felt particularly reactive.

This experience led me to rely heavily on rich, waterless ingredients such as Shea Nilotica, along with other oils and butters that felt supportive and comforting on my skin. Through trial, patience, and daily use, I developed a routine that focused on consistency rather than quick fixes.

The images below reflect my personal experience over time. They show how my skin looked before committing to a simple, daily routine and how it appeared after several weeks of consistent care. Everyone’s skin is different, and individual experiences vary, but sharing my own journey feels important to me.

My skin is not perfect, and it never has been. Some marks remain, and sensitivity still comes and goes. But learning how to care for my skin with patience and intention has helped me feel more comfortable and confident in my own body, especially during the warmer months. For me, that progress matters.
