You Are Worthy
In 2017 I decided I wanted to change my life. So, late one evening I picked up a notepad and started writing down everything I desired in order to be happy. At the very top of the list was owning my own business. I didn’t know what type of business, only that working for myself was the only definitive way I knew to take control of my life, my future, and my finances.
The next thing I did was purchase a Kindle. It was totally unrelated to my list, I just wanted to get back into reading, something that had become a rarity over the years. Once I had my Kindle, I hit up their self-help section and immediately downloaded a book titled “Just Ask the Universe.” Along with “Change Your Mind, Change Your Destiny,” I went about trying to motivate myself.
I soon realized that along with motivation, I had to let go of a lot of things that were mentally weighing me down. In order to have a more positive outlook on life, I had to turn off the news and stop browsing the majority of sites I usually visited, including most social media sites. I could not move ahead with a positive outlook of the future if I was watching and reading every negative story that came across my timeline. I could no longer allow myself to be inundated with news that left me feeling abandoned and hopeless about the world I live in. Now, just to be clear, I never sought out these sorts of stories- they were simply what the majority of people and the news chose to focus on.
I don’t want or need to hear every negative story or statistic associated with being black, a woman, or a black woman. I don’t need to see screenshots of every hateful comment some lesser-than has made about how he/she hates blackness. I don’t need it, I don’t want it, and I don’t care. Unfortunately, too many of us focus on sharing these stories, rather than those that motivate and inspire us.
I share this small tidbit hopefully to motivate and inspire you. If you are struggling to make a life change, if you are valiantly trying to turn lemons into lemonade, I implore you to seek out positivity. Seek out places and people who share news on how you can change your life for the better and not just wallow in statistics and imagery that eat away at your soul and subconsciously lead you into depression.
I also implore you to download the Kindle app and purchase two books: “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles and “The Secret of the Ages” by Robert Collier. These two books combined cost me less than $5, but have changed my life immeasurably. I can’t emphasize enough how much I think they will change your life as well.
Lastly, I leave you with this. You are worthy and ENTITLED to everything you desire in life. You were not put on this earth to suffer and be miserable. Whatever you want, say it. Speak it out loud and write it down. And don’t be cheap with yourself. Don’t just ask for “peace of mind,” ask for everything you want to be happy. Ask for the big, beautiful house by the lake, ask for the bountiful bank account, for the aches and pains to be gone, ask for the loving husband or wife, and then BELIEVE with all your heart that you will get it. See it, imagine it, and it will come. It will. I know, because my being here today is living proof of that.
Remember, believe in yourself. Put all your faith in you, not someone else, not any deity. YOU.
